The History of The OBViOUS: 1997 1998 1999 ...

January. - Canton (Guangzhou, China) Music Heaven magazine interviews The OBVIOUS for their April '97 issue for their first national press coverage of The OBVIOUS in China.

The frantic search for a new bassist begins!

April - Mark Dawson, from Chicago responds to The OBVIOUS' advertisements for a bassist/singer and is interviewed through the Internet for a month as other candidates are being weeded out.  After many emails and sending tapes back and forth, Mark becomes a member of The OBVIOUS.  A photo/video shoot is quickly scheduled.

May - Tim and Christopher first meet Mark to discuss The OBVIOUS' future projects, including their first tour of China. They also manage to record a bit of "Gaze In Your Eyes together after shooting videos for "A Day Like Today", "Life Goes On" and "Now Or Never".
July - Florida Today newspaper features The OBViOUS story complete with a phone number to hear The OBViOUS tracks by phone.
-Autumn '97 are hard times for The OBViOUS after negotiations fall though with the first few Chinese companies after a poorly worded proposal is mistakenly taken "politically" and all deals are dropped, much to the surprise of everyone. Mark exits The OBViOUS.

With The OBViOUS' first CD 70% finished, mr christopher takes a breather and turns his energies toward producing another album for Tim's other band The Offering. This further equips the Digital Banana Recording Studio for later work on The OBViOUS CD and also allows mr christopher to take time with his family to welcome his new daughter who arrives a bit early but exactly on time early in the winter month of December 1997. (His daughter is faintly captured in the background of "It's Much Too Soon To Say'" later to be released on The OBViOUS I.)
